STEVEN R. HOEKSTRA, M.A., LCPC, CLINICAL DIRECTOR
Steve received a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Governors State University and a B.A. in Education from Trinity Christian College. He is experienced in numerous areas of training, has extensive counseling competence, and is the founder and clinical director of Refuge. Steve sees clients at the South Holland office.
JOY E. ESHLEMAN, M.A., LCPC
Joy received a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and a B.A. in Psychology from Millikin University. She has considerable counseling experience, with a primary focus in grief, loss, and life adjustments. She is certified in CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) interventions and assists in crisis cases in a variety of settings. Joy works with individuals and families at the South Holland and Chicago offices.
Michele Aikens is the Administrator for Refuge Christian Counseling. She has extensive experience in public relations, publishing and administration. Aikens is a frequent lecturer to women’s groups, often speaking on the subjects of balance, time management, overcoming obstacles, multigenerational workplace development and relationships. She holds a Bachelors degree in Biblical Studies and Christian Education from Regency College and a Masters in Organizational Leadership from Living Word College & School of Ministry.
